Using Microsoft Teams should soon be much faster and smoother for users everywhere thanks to a few new speed-related updates.
The video conferencing service has announced a number of secret updates aimed at improving the user experience while navigating the Microsoft Teams platform.
The company says these changes should contribute to a 30% speed increase when switching between Microsoft Teams chats or channels.
Increase the speed of Microsoft Teams
Overall, the company claims that switching between chat threads is now 32% faster and switching between channels is 39% faster compared to two years ago.
Elsewhere, the framework update also reduced the time to join Microsoft Teams connections by 21%. The response speed during meetings also improved for those who felt their actions were not reaching their audience – for example, the delay in raising a hand improved by 16%.
“Our goal is to improve performance with each Teams update for our customers,” Microsoft’s Jeff Chen wrote in a blog post (opens in a new tab) announcing improvements.
“We focus and invest in optimizing the performance of Microsoft Teams, and value customer and partner feedback to help us prioritize the most critical scenarios.”
The news is the latest in a series of Microsoft Teams updates as the company tries to ensure the platform remains helpful and intuitive to users everywhere.
For example, the company recently added background effects to the web version of Microsoft Teams, meaning users will no longer need to download the desktop client or mobile app to access the feature. Effects include the ability to blur backgrounds and add custom wallpapers behind the speaker, which Microsoft says should make calls “more fun and personal.”
The company also recently announced that “premium” Microsoft Teams will arrive in 2023, offering optional additional premium features to make meetings more personalized, smart and secure.
